Hoosier Hills Credit Union is honored to be recognized by Forbes as one of the three Best-In-State Credit Unions for 2023 for the state of Indiana!

This award is a tremendous honor, as the recognition comes directly from our members and their experiences with us at HHCU. To build their list of award recipients, Forbes partnered with Statista to conduct an independent study, polling 31,000 US consumers to evaluate their credit union based on criteria such as trust, branch and digital services, customer service, fee transparency, and financial advice. These survey findings accounted for eighty percent of the scoring. Twenty percent of the scoring was attributed to publicly available Google Reviews from the past three years.

It brings us great joy to know our members feel as cared for and connected with us as we do with them. Connecting with our community is so paramount to HHCU that we made it our mission: “to be better for our members by making a positive difference in their lives and in the communities we serve.”

Ceremonial Groundbreaking Kicks off Construction of New

HHCU Ellettsville Service Center

Ellettsville, IN –Hoosier Hills Credit Union held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, November 2^nd, commemorating the start of construction on their new Service Center located at 3590 W. State Road 46 – at the corner of Highway 46 and Centennial Drive in Ellettsville, IN.

The Service Center, which will be HHCU’s ninth location, will offer a full range of financial services to members. Anyone who lives or works in Monroe County or surrounding counties is eligible to do business with Hoosier Hills Credit Union. The new facility will house the full-time office of Vice President of Commercial Services Debbie Reynolds. In addition to Reynolds providing commercial lending services, the new Ellettsville Service Center will offer vehicle and other personal loans, as well as HHCU mortgage loans, insurance and investment products. Hoosier Hills Credit Union also offers a full array of checking and deposit services, both for personal and business accounts. The Service Center will have three drive-up lanes, plus a lane for 24-hour ATM access.

“We are very excited to establish a Hoosier Hills Credit Union presence in the Ellettsville and greater Monroe County area,” said Travis Markley, HHCU President/CEO. “Ellettsville will be an excellent fit with our current southern Indiana locations. We focus on improving the lives of our members by providing the financial services they need, and by being active supporters of the communities where our members live and work.” He added, “Our staff is excited to bring the same level of passion and service we already provide to our current members. We’re making a significant investment in the community, and as we get closer to our grand opening we will be hiring service-driven professionals from the Ellettsville and Monroe County area to assist our members.”

The Credit Union plans to open its new Service Center in early summer 2021.

HHCU Donates $10,000 to Lawrence County Community Foundation

Bedford – Hoosier Hills Credit Union recently donated $10,000 to the Lawrence County Community Foundation’s HHCU Community Fund.

HHCU and the Community Foundation established the permanent endowment fund to continuously support the changing needs of Lawrence County. A portion of the funds annually go into an open grant program to benefit impactful initiatives throughout the county.

HHCU President/CEO George McNichols presented the check to Hope Flores, the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer.

The Foundation administers the allocation of charitable assets by identifying and responding to needs in Lawrence County, as well as through a partnership that serves neighboring Martin County’s needs. The organization provides leadership and handles grant-making in areas related to education, economic development, health and human services, civic and historical affairs, arts and culture and recreational activities.

“The Lawrence County Community Foundation makes a difference in so many ways every single day, and its work is a wonderful avenue for community-focused organizations like Hoosier Hills Credit Union to support Lawrence County,” McNichols said.

Grand Opening Event to Celebrate Opening of Hoosier Hills Credit Union Ellettsville Service Center

June 4, 2021 – Ellettsville, IN

After months of construction and tireless planning, Hoosier Hills Credit Union’s Ellettsville Service Center is complete, fully staffed, and ready to make an impact in the community. The Ellettsville Service Center is located at 3590 West State Road 46 – at the corner of State Road 46 and Centennial Drive. Anyone who lives or works in Monroe or any surrounding county can bank with Hoosier Hills.

To commemorate the completion of construction and opening the doors to the public, a Grand Opening event is being held on Saturday, June 12^th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. right outside the Service Center. They’ll have free lunch, a live radio broadcast, free balloon animals, vehicle loan and new checking account specials, Service Center tours, a $250 drawing, giveaways and more! There is fun for the whole family that you do not want to miss!

HHCU is also offering several product specials. Anyone opening a Free Checking account at the new Ellettsville Service Center will receive a $25 gift card to a local restaurant. And those who take a vehicle loan with the Credit Union between June 1 and August 31 will not only receive record low rates, but also a Scratch-Off ticket worth up to one year’s vehicle loan payments. Chad Helming Appointed to HHCU Supervisory Committee

Bedford – Chad Helming of Jasper has been appointed to serve on the Hoosier Hills Credit Union Supervisory Committee. His term will begin January 1, 2020.

A wealth of professional experience and success, plus qualities such as being a 10-year HHCU member make Helming a perfect fit, said Don Brandt, who chairs the Supervisory Committee. “We wanted to fill this vacancy on the Committee with the right person,” Brandt said. “Chad applied with the perfect background and experience. He’s exactly who we were looking for.”

A manufacturing engineer at Kimball Electronics in Jasper, Helming and his wife have five children. He worked for Master Brand Cabinets in multiple engineering roles for more than 20 years and is a co-owner of his family’s plumbing, heating and air conditioning company. Helming holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from Indiana State University and has been a Hoosier Hills Credit Union member for more than 10 years.

Helming’s community involvement includes serving as a girls softball coach and boys assistant baseball coach in Ireland, IN, as well as being a trustee and treasurer for the Portersville Cemetery Committee. He is also a member of the Indiana Association of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors.

Beauchamp Named a Bedford Young Professionals 4 Under 40 Winner

Bedford, IN – Katherine Beauchamp, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Hoosier Hills Credit Union, was recently named one of Bedford Young Professionals’ 4 Under 40 award winners. She is among those selected in the third year of the awards program.

Nominees, who represent a wide range of careers and organizations, were evaluated with a formal scoring system based upon four primary principles:

Leadership in the Community
Leadership in the Workplace
Future Goals and Likely Impact
Achievements as an Individual or Part of a Group

Not only did Beauchamp meet standards in these four core principles, but far surpassed them by exemplifying the characteristics of an exceptional young professional in her role at HHCU and everyday life, according to her nomination by Hoosier Hills Credit Union President/CEO Travis Markley. In her senior management role at the Credit Union, she serves as the senior “culture officer.” She and her team are responsible for the time and wage program, employee compensation strategy, employee benefits, 401K plan, talent acquisition, employment law compliance, employee relations, training, employee development and employee engagement. She has implemented new benefits such as the employee wellness plan and incentive, fitness center benefit, employee appreciation days, and a community donation benefit called, “Wear to Care.” She also oversees HHCU’s Retirement and Employee Benefits Committee.

“Katherine has excellent leadership skills and a passion for the well-being of HHCU employees,” said Markley. “She has preserved and advanced the Credit Union’s status as a preferred employer throughout our entire service footprint. We’re proud to have her as part of our team.” He also indicated that one of the most compelling demonstrations of her merit as a 4 Under 40 candidate occurred over the past 18 months as she went above and beyond during the pandemic, working tirelessly to develop programs and policy to help employees and managers navigate difficult circumstances.

A Bedford native and Indiana University alum, Beauchamp was elected and currently serves as a Trustee to the Indiana Credit Union League Consortium – a healthcare consortium for credit unions in Indiana. She is also active in the community as a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and the local Tri Kappa sorority.

Hoosier Hills Credit Union Makes a Splash in Ellettsville

Ellettsville, IN – Twenty-five members of the Ellettsville community were recently surprised with envelopes of $100 cash in celebration of Hoosier Hills Credit Union’s Ellettsville Service Center’s opening week.

HHCU staff members visited various retail businesses, as well as other organizations in the community, to select lucky winners at random. Some of the locations where winners were chosen include the Ellettsville Fire Department, Underground Cupcake, Wee Willie’s, IGA, Village Inn Restaurant, Jiffy Treet and more!

Members of the Hoosier Hills Credit Union “Prize Patrol” enjoyed the opportunity to award prizes to students, veterans, retirees and workers while they were shopping, having a meal out, getting gas, or even while they were at work.

“Having the opportunity to put in motion our mission of making a positive difference in the communities we serve was rewarding for all of us,” said Scott Mitchell, Vice President of Ellettsville Operations. “And the people we were able to interact with seemed to enjoy it as well. The Credit Union’s Cash Giveaway, tagged #HHCUAroundTown on social media, was a great way to get out in the community and spread some positivity and cheer.”

Hoosier Hills Credit Union West Side Drive-Up Renovations

to Provide 24-Hour Banking Center

Bedford, IN – Hoosier Hills Credit Union is set to begin construction Friday, October 1 on renovations to provide a 24-Hour Banking Center for its members. The Credit Union will be replacing the current drive-up tube lanes and the current withdrawal-only ATM and installing Smart ATMs, utilizing the same technology already in place at its new Ellettsville Service Center. HHCU’s Drive-Up facility will remain open throughout the construction project.

Envelope-free Smart ATMS will provide 24-hour access to check deposits, cash deposits and cash. Members will be able to insert up to 80 checks at once with no envelope or deposit slip required or insert up to 80 bills at once for cash deposits. Cash withdrawals can be made to the dollar, rather than in multiples of $10 or $20. The night deposit will remain in place and will continue to operate throughout the project and after completion.

Divided into two phases, the construction will initially close down the left four drive-up lanes, leaving the right three lanes open. The right three lanes include two drive-up tube lanes and an ATM lane. Two new, more sophisticated ATMs will be installed in the renovated lanes. Phase 1, which begins October 1, is expected to be completed by October 22. Phase 2 will begin the week of October 25 and will involve closing the right three lanes to install an additional Smart ATM. Final completion of the renovations is expected in mid-November.

“The new Smart ATMs will provide everyone with fast and convenient transaction services around the clock, including weekends,” said Travis Markley, Hoosier Hills Credit Union President/CEO. “We’re excited to roll out these improvements to our members.”

HHCU Jasper Service Center Expanding With Second Floor Project

Nov. 25, 2019 – Jasper, IN – A construction project to expand the Hoosier Hills Credit Union Jasper Service Center’s second floor space into half a dozen offices, a conference room, a work area and a pair of restrooms is on pace for completion by the end of 2019.

With almost 2,900 square feet of additional space, the Service Center will be better equipped to serve its nearly 3,000 members. Chief Retail Officer Andy Fish said the project is a key to the busy Service Center carrying out the Credit Union’s mission and handling the growth that comes with it.

“We conduct approximately 50,000 transactions each year at the Jasper Service Center, and this project is going to help us continue to improve the services we offer our members,” he said.

A date and other information on a public unveiling of the new space will be announced at a later time.

Expansion Project Underway for Mitchell Service Center

Nov. 25, 2019 – Mitchell, IN – An extensive expansion project that will add more than 1,200 square feet to Hoosier Hills Credit Union’s Mitchell Service Center should be complete in early 2020. The renovation/addition will offer members more space and provide staff with a more effective work environment.

A date and other information on grand re-opening activities for the Service Center at 45 Teke Burton Dr. will be announced at a later time.

The busy service center’s membership has grown to more than 4,200. The current expansion includes the addition of a pair of new offices, a conference room, a work room, an employee lounge area and a redesigned member waiting area. The plans also include a new teller supervisor office.

Once the new space is complete and related renovations are wrapped up, a smaller improvement phase will refresh the existing lobby space with new paint and other features to better tie it into the design scheme of the new portion, said Chief Retail Officer Andy Fish.

The Mitchell Service Center opened in September 1989 and was last renovated in 2010.

Sally Gogel Fischer Appointed to HHCU Board of Directors

Dec. 12, 2019 – Bedford, IN – Sally Gogel Fischer, owner of Gogel Fischer & Associates CPA in Jasper, has been appointed to fill an open seat on the Hoosier Hills Credit Union Board of Directors. Her term begins January 1, 2020, and her initial term will be for one year.

Fischer replaces Bill Miller, who retired from the Board after 50 years of service.

An HHCU member for more than 10 years who lives in Jasper with her husband Steve, Fischer brings a wealth of professional and community volunteer experience, plus extensive leadership and management tenures to the Board. She has logged more than 17 years of corporate accounting work and more than 12 years of private-practice accounting for public clients.

“I work with clients to analyze their financial positions and strategies, plan for expansions, optimize taxes and much more,” Fischer said. “In past positions in corporate accounting, I worked with businesses roles such as chief financial officer, overseeing all financial aspects of the business. In those capacities, communication and interactions with other departments and management are essential. I believe that enables me to look at things from lots of perspectives.”

Fischer is a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), a former president of the American Legion Auxiliary and former secretary for the Mariah Hill Conservation Club. She has also been a board member and treasurer of Tri Cap.

Along with being a Certified Public Accountant, Fischer holds bachelor’s degrees in marketing and management from the University of Evansville, as well as a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University Southeast.

HHCU Offering Scholarships to Area Seniors

Feb. 19, 2020 – Bedford, IN – Hoosier Hills Credit Union is again making $500 scholarships available to seniors chosen by scholarship selection committees at nine participating high schools throughout the HHCU service area.

The schools are Bedford North Lawrence, Forest Park, Heritage Hills, Jasper, Mitchell, Orleans, Paoli, Tell City and Springs Valley. Some schools’ scholarships are administered by foundations.

Graduating students in the top third of their class and who have participated in school and community activities are urged to apply for the financial awards. Eligible seniors must also have parents or guardians who are HHCU members. Recipients must be enrolled as full-time students at an approved institution and be recommended by the school’s Scholarship Committee.

HHCU urges graduating seniors to contact their high schools’ Guidance Counselors and verify schools’ scholarship application deadlines. Some schools’ deadlines are as early as March 1.

Erin Cook Now Serving Orange County Mortgage Needs

Feb. 19, 2020 – French Lick, IN – Erin Cook was recently promoted to be a Mortgage Lending Officer serving Orange County members from the French Lick Service Center.

Cook was previously a Mortgage Loan Analyst at HHCU’s Bedford Annex. Prior to joining HHCU’s Mortgage Services Department two years ago, Cook served as Consumer Relations Manager at a bank in Arkansas.

Cook lives in Paoli with her husband, Amos and their two sons, Kohan and Kamden. She holds a Universal Banker’s Certificate from the American Bankers Association and attended Arkansas State University.

“We are extremely pleased to have Erin working from the French Lick Service Center,” said Robyn Hughes, Vice President of Mortgage Services. “Her knowledge and experience will be great assets to members during their homebuying process.”

McNichols’ Professional Achievements, Community Involvement Earn Indiana’s Sagamore of the Wabash Award

George McNichols, former President/CEO of Hoosier Hills Credit Union for 35 years, was honored with a Sagamore of the Wabash Award during a dinner event held in honor of his recent retirement from HHCU.

Indiana State Senator Eric Koch presented the award on behalf of Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, who was unable to attend. The Sagamore is the second highest honor bestowed by the state of Indiana. Among these who have received Sagamores are astronauts, presidents, ambassadors, artists, musicians, politicians and ordinary citizens who have contributed greatly to the Hoosier heritage.

“I can’t begin to express how honored I am,” McNichols said after Koch’s presentation. “I was taken by complete surprise, but I am also incredibly moved by this gesture by Gov. Holcomb. Plus, I can’t think of a better group of people with whom to share this.”

Travis Markley, HHCU’s newly appointed President/CEO, praised McNichols’ contributions to the Credit Union industry, as well as the community at large. “George’s story is a perfect example of what has made credit unions the best financial option for many individuals and commercial ventures over the years,” Markley said. “People like George not only understood the member-driven cooperative model throughout the years, but they had vision and courage to lead and innovate.”

Under McNichols’ leadership, Hoosier Hills Credit Union focused on maximizing member value, while managing costs. That business philosophy helped build substantial growth for Hoosier Hills Credit Union. In fact, during the years McNichols was CEO of HHCU, the Credit Union grew from less than $10 million in total assets to more than $610 million, from 2,500 members to more than 30,000 members, and from nine employees to the current 180. Because of his innovative leadership and his significant involvement in the credit union industry statewide and nationally, McNichols was named to the Indiana Credit Union League Hall of Fame in 2015 and served several terms as chair of the ICUL Board of Directors during his tenure on that board.

In 2016, then Governor Mike Pence appointed McNichols as the first credit union executive to serve on the Board of Depositories for the State of Indiana. On the national level, he was a member of the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA’s) Governmental Affairs Committee from 2011 to 2015 and a member of CUNA’s Kitchen Cabinet, a national task force to explore alternative structural options for credit unions in the United States.

Closer to HHCU’s Lawrence County headquarters, McNichols has served on the Radius Indiana Board of Directors and served in numerous capacities with the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council, the Bedford Recreation Foundation and the Lawrence County Community Foundation.

Others who spoke at the event of McNichols’ impact to HHCU, the credit union industry and the community were Jennie Edwards, Chair of the Hoosier Hills Credit Union Board of Directors; Ruth Ann Elkins, HHCU Vice President of Bedford Operations and long-time HHCU employee; John McKenzie, President of the Indiana Credit Union League; and Shawna Girgis, former mayor of the City of Bedford.

Ira Joins Hoosier Hills Credit Union as Mortgage Loan Officer

March 2, 2020 – Bedford, IN – Wendy Ira has joined Hoosier Hills Credit Union’s Mortgage Services Department as a Mortgage Loan Officer serving Lawrence County and surrounding areas. She brings to the position nearly 20 years of administrative experience in a variety of capacities at a personal injury law firm.

Hoosier Hills Credit Union Donates $10,000 for COVID-19 Relief

Bedford, IN – Hoosier Hills Credit Union has donated $10,000 to area communities to assist with economic hardships due to the COVID-19 virus. The donations were made to the Emergency or COVID Relief Funds with the following five community foundations that cover the primary service areas for the Credit Union:

Lawrence County Community Foundation
Orange County Community Foundation
Dubois County Community Foundation
Perry County Community Foundation
Spencer County Community Foundation

“Our mission is to be better for our members by making a positive difference in their lives and the communities we serve,” said HHCU CEO Travis Markley. “We are committed to living out that mission every day in a number of ways, particularly during these difficult times. Hoosier Hills Credit Union is proud to be able to donate to community organizations and individuals to help them get through the struggles caused by the economic shutdown.”

HHCU is also working with individual and commercial members to help make life easier at this time. For commercial clients, Hoosier Hills is providing the Small Business Administration Payment Protection Program (SBA PPP) loans. This is helping hundreds of businesses in the area gain additional funding to continue their operations.

Assistance for individuals is available in the form of:

Good Neighbor Loans, very low-rate, fixed-interest loans, with payments deferred up to six months, to help with immediate expenses;
Skip-A-Pay, allowing members to skip a payment on existing HHCU loans;
Payment Deferral Options, available for personal/consumer and commercial loans with no late fees for the deferral period;
Loan Modifications, available to reduce payments or set up interest only payments where warranted;
Lowest Payment Challenge, for members to obtain a free review of existing loans to try to lower payments by transferring the loan balance to HHCU at a lower rate;
Automatic waiver of ATM fees on ATMS not owned by HHCU and not in the Alliance One ATM Network (HHCU-owned & network ATMs are already free);
Automatic increase on all daily ATM withdrawal limits to $1,000;
Waiver of early withdrawal penalties on certificates in cases of financial hardship;

Aldridge joins Hoosier Hills Credit Union as Chief Information Officer

May 12, 2020 – Bedford, IN – James Aldridge has been selected to serve as Chief Information Officer of Hoosier Hills Credit Union. His appointment was effective May 6, 2020.

Aldridge holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Ball State University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Indianapolis. In 2014, he was the TechPoint Mira Award nominee for Tech Educator of the Year and a nominee for tech innovation in 2004. Aldridge has an extensive background in technology, including significant experience in strategy, regulatory requirements, digital transformation, and architecture. He brings knowledge, comprehensive business acumen and extensive experience that will be an integral part of the Hoosier Hills Credit Union team.

Aldridge resides in Santa Claus, Indiana with his wife and children. He is a member of several community boards, which include the Spencer County Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Computer Technology Advisory Board of Ball State University, and the Business and IT Advisory Board of Vincennes University–Jasper Campus.

“After reviewing James’ credentials, it was evident that his experience and education would allow him to play a vital role on our team. HHCU Holds Annual Meeting, Reorganization Meetings

Bedford – Hoosier Hills Credit Union recently held its Annual Meeting, followed by separate HHCU Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee reorganization meetings to establish the Credit Union’s volunteer leadership for the coming year.

The Annual Meeting and reorganization meetings were held by teleconference because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

During the Annual Meeting, HHCU’s $215 million economic impact on its service areas and the Credit Union’s tremendous growth in general were highlighted. Hoosier Hills Credit Union registered record net income and the highest dividends ever returned to members in 2019. Contributions to southern Indiana economic development included loans originated in the region, salaries and benefits for HHCU staff, taxes that were paid and supplies purchased locally.

At year-end in 2019, HHCU held total assets of $609.3 million, an increase of 9.9% from the previous year. During that same span, deposits grew by 9.2% to $446.3 million, $37.9 million above year-end 2018 total deposits.

Election results were also announced for the HHCU Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee.

Bryan Johnson was elected to continue as a member of the Board for two years, filling the remainder of his term after having been appointed to the Board in January 2019. Sally Gogel Fischer was appointed after William “Bill” Miller retired in 2019. Fischer’s term began January 1, 2020. Her initial elected term will be for one year. Current Directors Alan Cummings, Jennie Edwards and Leo Meadows were each elected to serve another three-year term on the Board of Directors.

For the Supervisory Committee, Janie Craig Chenault was elected to serve a three-year term. She was first appointed in June 2018. Tara Jenkins was elected to fill the one year remaining on her existing seat. Chad Helming of Jasper was appointed as a new member, effective January 1, 2020, to fill an open seat. He was elected to complete the remaining one year of the term for this seat on the Committee.

The Board of Directors conducted its reorganizational meeting later in May. The officers of the Board of Directors were appointed as follows:

HHCU Expanding to Monroe County with Ellettsville Service Center

Ellettsville, IN – Hoosier Hills Credit Union plans to expand into Monroe County with a Service Center to be built on land the Credit Union recently purchased along State Highway 46 in Ellettsville. Site preparation will begin by mid-June, so passers-by will see activity on the site very soon. Building plans are in the beginning stages, with start and completion dates yet to be determined.

The Service Center, which will be HHCU’s ninth location, will offer a full range of financial services to members. Anyone who lives or works in Monroe County or surrounding counties is eligible to do business with Hoosier Hills Credit Union. Located at 3590 W. State Road 46 – at the corner of Highway 46 and Centennial Drive in Ellettsville – the new facility will house the full-time office of Vice President of Commercial Services Debbie Reynolds. In addition to Reynolds providing commercial lending services, HHCU’s new Service Center will offer vehicle and other personal loans, as well as HHCU mortgage loans and insurance and investment products. Hoosier Hills Credit Union also offers a full array of checking and deposit services, both for personal and business accounts. The Service Center will have three drive-up lanes, plus a lane for 24-hour ATM access.

“We are very excited to establish a Hoosier Hills Credit Union presence in the Ellettsville and greater Monroe County area,” said Travis Markley, HHCU President and CEO. “Ellettsville will be an excellent fit with our current Southern Indiana locations. Hoosier Hills Credit Union to Re-Open Service Center and Annex Lobbies

June 10, 2020 – Bedford, IN – On Monday, June 15, all Hoosier Hills Credit Union Service Center and Annex lobbies will re-open for walk-in traffic with regular business hours at each location. This follows the statewide shutdown that began in mid-March due to the COVID-19 virus.

While welcoming back all members, HHCU asks that anyone coming into the Credit Union’s facilities observe these practices:

Maintain social distancing (6 ft).
Sanitize your hands when coming and going.
Wear a mask when possible.
Follow instructions regarding any limitations we may have on the number of members permitted inside at one time.
Don’t visit the Credit Union if you’re experiencing any illness or if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.

Hoosier Hills also asks that the first hour of each business day be reserved for the most vulnerable populations, whose health is more at risk being out in public with crowds. However, no one will be turned away for service during this hour.

Members will see a few changes as they return. The Credit Union has installed new protective germ shields at all member-facing workstations. There may be a greeter at the entrance to welcome members and to limit the number who can be inside at one time. And they are likely to see employees using masks and gloves as they serve members.

HHCU Announces 2020 Scholarship Program Recipients

June 22, 2020 – Bedford, IN – Hoosier Hills Credit Union recently awarded scholarships to 10 graduating area high school students, continuing the Credit Union’s program of helping students pursue higher education.

Scholarships in the amount of $500 were presented to students who are, or whose parents or guardians are, members of HHCU, in the top third of their class and who participated in school and community activities. Recipients must be enrolled as a full-time student at an approved college and be recommended by the school’s Scholarship Committee or a scholarship foundation.

Jaimi Deel Promoted to Mortgage Loan Officer at Hoosier Hills Credit Union

March 31, 2021 – Bedford, IN –Jaimi Deel has been promoted to Mortgage Loan Officer within the Mortgage Department at Hoosier Hills Credit Union. She is located at the HHCU Tell City Service Center and is available to assist members throughout the Credit Union’s 40-county service area.

Deel entered the banking world at just 15 years old as a part-time teller and continued during her time in college at the University of Southern Indiana. After she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in health science, she found she missed banking. This led her to go on to accept a position with HHCU as a Teller Supervisor in September 2015.

Since being a Teller Supervisor, Deel moved into Lending, and now Mortgage where her passion lies. “I aspire to be a familiar face and a knowledgeable lender representing HHCU with members and realtors,” Deel said. “I look forward to helping members get the home of their dreams while providing them with the best home financing options around.”

“We are glad to have Jaimi helping our members in the Tell City area,” said Angela Ashlock, Mortgage Production Manager. “She brings an enthusiasm for service to the position and is dedicated to the credit union model of “People Helping People.”

Deel resides in Tell City with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys going camping and spending time with her family. She is a part of the Tell City Relay for Life Foundation.

Matt Harding Joins HHCU as Mortgage Loan Officer

Bedford, IN. – Matt Harding has joined Hoosier Hills Credit Union as Mortgage Loan Officer within the Mortgage Department. He will be located at the new HHCU Ellettsville Service Center at 3590 W. State Road 46 and will be available to assist members throughout the Credit Union’s 40-county service area.

Harding holds an Associate’s degree from Ivy Tech Community College in Business Administration and has more than 18 years of experience in the mortgage industry of Monroe County. Throughout his career, he says he has specialized in building strong relationships with realtors and other referral partners by always being available to meet their needs and thinking outside of the box to get a deal done in the best way possible.

Harding is eager to begin his career at Hoosier Hills Credit Union, where he says he will, “always put the member first to make sure they have the best product to suit their financial needs, and go the extra mile to ensure premier service.”

He enjoys IU sports, playing golf and spending time with his family, and resides in Brazil, Indiana with his wife Laurie and three children.

CJ Cattoi named HHCU Vice President of Spencer County Operations

October 8, 2020 – Bedford – Hoosier Hills Credit Union has named CJ Cattoi as Vice President of Operations at the Spencer County Service Center.

A graduate of Indiana State University, Cattoi joins HHCU after being a Financial Center Manager in Santa Claus, IN, for Fifth Third Bank. Prior to that, he had been the Assistant Center Manager and a Personal Banker at Fifth Third’s Jasper banking center. Cattoi’s work experience also includes Operations Management and Package Dispatch Supervision roles with United Parcel Service (UPS).

“I look forward to meeting and building relationships with Hoosier Hills members,” Cattoi said. “Spencer County has a special place in my heart, and I’m excited to continue my career in such a great place in southern Indiana.”

As VP of Operations, Cattoi will oversee the Chrisney-based Service Center’s Consumer Lending and overall daily operations.

“CJ brings very valuable experience with lending, deposit and general financial services, and he has played a vital role in the hiring, training and professional development of teams he has led,” said HHCU Chief Retail Officer Andy Fish. “We’re excited to have CJ join us in meeting the financial needs of our members.”

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Takes Place at New HHCU Ellettsville Service Center

Ellettsville, IN – – Hoosier Hills Credit Union, along with the Ellettsville Chamber of Commerce and elected officials, officially opened the doors on HHCU’s new Service Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 8th.

The new Service Center marks the ninth location for HHCU, and President/CEO Travis Markley stated that there has been plenty of energy behind the company opening its doors on 3590 W. State Road 46.
“The buzz has been humming, and it’s been a resounding hum in the community of Ellettsville and within the family of Hoosier Hills Credit Union,” Markley said.
In attendance was Indiana Senator Shelli Yoder, who said she was taken aback by HHCU’s humble beginnings in a break room of the GM Factory in Bedford, Indiana and is already looking forward to the positive impact HHCU will make in the greater Ellettsville area.

“I am honored to be here and celebrate with you, because you play an important role in this community in continuing those simple, humble beginnings for someone else,” Yoder said. “Perhaps it’s building a home, starting a business, or getting by to the next dream that family or individual will have here in Monroe County.”

Indiana House of Representatives member Bob Heaton and President of the Greater Ellettsville Area Chamber of Commerce Kenny Williams also shared their excitement with some remarks of their own during the ceremony.

“We’re excited as a chamber to have Hoosier Hills here, and we’re awful glad that you picked our community,” Williams said.

HHCU has already started making a positive impact in its new community through a new high school scholarship, athletic sponsorships, active Chamber participation, and contributions to other local organizations. Markley mentioned that he only expects HHCU’s impact to continue to gain momentum as the company will be active citizens within the greater Ellettsville area.
